DEN & OFFICE –
1830’s Hudson’s Bay
Company Desk
|
|
Rare
1830’s walnut desk used by and made for Hudson’s Bay Company. Accompanied by book entitled The Living Past of America by C.
Vanderbilt that has a section on the McLoughlin House in Oregon City,
Oregon. On the bottom of the page is
the Hudson’s Bay Company Desk in Dr. McLoughlin’s study. A subsequent phone call to Nancy Wilson at
McLoughlin House in the 1980’s yielded more information on this desk. This type of desk was used at most of
Hudson’s Bay Company forts and dates from the 1830’s and was made in
England. There have been some repairs
to the desk including the replacement of one of the two walnut planks on top;
however, stain matches very nicely. |
