DIRECTIONSFrom West, take SR 2 into downtown LaPorte; go two blocks east of courthouse and turn right onto Monroe/SR 4 and go 1.2 miles to auction site on left.  From East, take SR 2 from South Bend to LaPorte; go to Boyd Boulevard just past Wal-Mart; turn left onto Boyd Boulevard and go approximately 1.2 miles to Monroe/SR 4; turn right onto Monroe and go .75 miles to auction on right.  From South, take US 35 north toward LaPorte; at the first light before entering the city, turn right onto Boyd Boulevard and go north approximately 1 mile to Monroe/SR 4; turn left and go .75 miles to auction site on right.  Note:  Auction held indoors in heated, carpeted auction gallery.

PAINTINGS

 

William Henry Chandler – several pastels by William Henry Chandler of various landscapes; Kuhn – nice winter scene in oil; Hamilton – landscape; A.L. Cochran1910 Woodstock impressionistic landscape; Many Unknowns but beautiful incl. two smaller paintings on metal of landscapes with very nice flower frames, two pastels of ships (one has sticker on back that reads “Exposition Universalle De 1855 Menton Honorable Papeir, Carton. Chassis, Toiles Anti-Ponce pourle Pastel P. L. Brovete Paris Marque Deposee”); many other 1880-1930’s paintings;

 

PRINTS

 

Several older prints, some in beautiful old frames; serigraphs by H. Hargrove of Peterbilt truck and Circus Clown on Stilts; 3-dimensional cat called “Susie” w/ 2 puppies; number of calendar prints & pin-ups w/ a few nudes; 4 modern matted prints by Lorraine Pritz (3 Sister Falls, Loons, Sunset of Lake, & Sailboat in Rough Seas)

 

      

JAPANESE WOOD BLOCK PRINTS

 

Original wood block print by Hiroshige (note on back reads “This is an original – on Mulberry paper – by the famous ‘Japanese Artist’ Hiroshige – one of the last series he did in 1857 when he changed from figures to scenery.  Information secured from Miss Gentile – in charge of the Oriental Department at the Chicago Art Institute on April 7, 1955”); another Hiroshige (note on back reads “ca. 1853 Mark 18 Ando Hiroshige 1787-1858 “Kana Gama” (gold mine) Hiroshigegawa the sixty and more views of the provinces); another Hiroshige (note on back reads “Kanagawa Moonlight Scene over Yedo Bay. From Go-Ju-San Tsugi Meisho Zuye absence of seals above & below Ando’s signatures”); note on back reads “(Koyo saruhashi-no dyo “Monkey Bridge by Moonlight 1 of the 2 sheets (Kakemono-ye) #13 of 60 views of the Provinces Kai Province”); another print (note on back reads “A Spring Scene at the Kayomizu Temple in Kyoto by Tomikichiro (a famous Kyoto artist)”); and many others.

 

IVORY, NETSUKES, & FIGURINES

 

Several pieces of Ivory from Alaska to the Orient including whimsical polar bear eating fish; also several Netsukes; many figurines including clay, jade, & carved horn.

 

ORIENTAL RUGS

 

At least twelve different oriental rugs from old to modern Karastan.  Variety of colors and sizes. 

 

 

    

 

BRONZES & CAST ITEMS

 

Exquisite Russian bronze of a sled with a block of ice mounted on Lapis (measures 3 ½ inches wide by 5 1/8 inches wide by 2 ¾ inches tall); bronze umbrella stand with intricately detailed peacock, eagle, & other designs (stands 24 high and is 10 inches in diameter); cast Sumo wrestler w/ Japanese signature; other pieces.

 

ART BOOKS

 

Easily over 100 art books on variety of artists including Picasso, Faberge, Frederic Remington, Charles Russell, Van Gogh, Klee, and many more.  Also books on types of art include impressionism, modernism and more.
